Rehearsals
Sonara rehearse every Monday evening, 7.15–9 pm at the Postmill Centre, Market Street, South Normanton. If you are interested and want to find out if this is for you then come along to a rehearsal night—enthusiastic new members are always welcome, and women over 16 who wish to further their choral ability will be accepted without audition.
Rehearsal structure
It is the musical director's responsibility to ensure that all rehearsals have a positive outcome. To achieve this we use four strategies which all rehearsals should encompass.
- Choir members are shown how developing simple vocal techniques allows them to use their voices confidently
- Introducing a suitable variety of choral genres further develops their vocal technique whilst ensuring that the choir has a range of material to suit all occasions
- Continuously challenging the choir to tackle progressively more difficult pieces whilst ensuring a balance so that all can achieve a 'good' performance
- Engaging the choir members in techniques of performance which entertains the audience
However, at the centre of all rehearsals is that choir members should enjoy rehearsals, not just the singing but also the companionship and friendship that is an integral part of any choir's existence.
